Christian/Catholic Memorial Service

Christian and Catholic funeral rites are solemn and reverent, with a relatively simple process. In Christian belief, death is not the end but the beginning of eternal life.
The ceremony serves not only to remember the deceased but also as a solemn act of faith, entrusting the soul to God. Both traditions do not burn joss paper, incense, or set up ancestral tablets; instead, they honor the deceased with a cross, photo, Bible, and fresh flowers.

Typical Christian funeral service procedure

FAQ

What is the difference between Christian and Catholic funerals?

While both share faith in Jesus Christ, the ceremonial forms differ slightly.

Catholic funerals often include a Memorial Mass with Holy Communion, sprinkling of holy water, and incense as part of traditional rites.

Protestant Christian funerals usually take the form of a Memorial Service, which is simpler, focusing on sermons, hymns, and prayers.

Are there any taboos in Christian funerals?

There are generally no strict taboos for attending Christian or Catholic funerals. Guests are simply expected to remain respectful throughout the ceremony

Can memorial services or Mass be held in the memorial hall?

Yes. Happy Land Memorial Park has dedicated halls for Christian and Catholic services. We can assist in setting up suitable decorations such as holy images, crosses, Bible tables, and sound systems, as well as invite pastors or priests to officiate

Is it necessary to have a priest or pastor officiate the funeral?

It is recommended. Having a clergy member lead the ceremony better reflects the religious spirit and offers spiritual comfort. However, if this is not possible, Happy Land Memorial Park can assist in making alternative arrangements

What should be done after the memorial Mass / service?

Families may arrange an anniversary memorial, a thanksgiving gathering, or set up a memorial niche (for remembrance only, without worship). They may also send thank-you cards to express gratitude for the support of relatives and friends
